The fifth edition of MasterChef Junior starts this Wednesday with luxury guests (and a robot cook)

The children's version of the popular Spanish Television program returns this December 20 with 16 small contestants, between 8 and 12 years old, chosen in a crowd casting in which more than 6,000 candidates participated.

Again, aspiring chefs will have teachers to Pepe Rodríguez Rey, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Jordi Cruz, but as a novelty in this edition they will also have the help of Little chef, a robot cook who will give tricks and advice to children in each test.

In the presentation of the new season of the contest, Toñi Tight, entertainment director of TVE, said that this edition of MasterChef Junior "will be spectacular, with such emotional moments that will not leave anyone indifferent." He added that the return of the program “is a rush after the second edition of MasterChef Celebrity, with which we were leaders ten consecutive weeks and a final that achieved an average of 23.5% of Compartir" “TVE bets again for this talent that can be shared in family and that instills companionship and effort in adults and children, ”he said.

MasterChef has already turned five and they have been issued more than 100 episodes, without it seems that the success of the program declines. "We have been included in the Guinnes Record as the most successful cooking program in the world," said Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia, the producer of the format.

Tougher tests

Although the dynamics of the program will be similar to that of other editions, this new season of MasterChef Junior will include tests as tough as those that adult contestants have to overcome: battles, mysterious multicajas, relay kitchen or the preparation of a dish following the instructions of a well-known chef.

The program will parade chefs the size of Dabiz Muñoz, Pedro Subijana, Dani García, Marcos Morán, Álvaro Salazar, Javier Olleros or Tonino Valiente; as well as several former MasterChef contestants.

Among the candidates, as the statement of presentation of the program points out, there is a man with the body of a child half Murcia, half Almeria; a passionate about chinese cuisine who dreams of being an archaeologist; a girl who with only nine years dominates French and Spanish cuisine almost like her cousin Miguel Ángel Muñoz; an Atleti from Madrid with three girlfriends, embroidering the stews he learned from his grandmother; a Alicante who says that if she does not enter MasterChef Junior, she will end her life; which is probably the smallest applicant who has passed through the kitchens of the program, but it has a lot of character; a influencer who dominates Japanese cuisine and began at age five helping his mother; a ten-year-old cook who dreams of setting up a restaurant for coeliacs and then focusing on working for NASA; and a young chef who promised his stepfather before he died that he would enter MasterChef.
